‘A friend is one of the nicest things you can have and one of the best things you can be’ – Douglas Pagels (American Author)
We all need friends, they support us, listen endlessly, make us laugh, keep us company and are there through life’s ups and downs. I am fortunate to have some amazing friends who have got me through some extremely tough times over the last few years. In honour of all those lovely people as well as the friends I haven’t met yet, I thought I’d share some friendship quotes this week.

Making friends
‘Friendship is born in that moment when one person says to another: “What! You too? I thought I was the only one”‘ – C S Lewis (British author)
‘I destroy my enemy when I make him my friend’ – Abraham Lincoln
‘You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you’ – Dale Carnegie (American author)
The difference between friends and forever friends
‘Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down’ – Oprah Winfrey
‘Best friends are people who make your problems their problems, just so you don’t have to go through them alone’ – unknown
‘A true friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you’ – Elbert Hubbard
‘True friends are those rare people who ask how you are and then wait to hear the answer’ – Ed Cunningham (former American football player)
‘A true friend is someone who thinks you’re a good egg even though they know you’re slightly cracked!’ – unknown

‘True friends come to find you in dark places and lead you back to the light’ – unknown
True friends will always be there
‘Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart’ – Eleanor Roosevelt
‘Anyone can show up when you’re happy. But the ones who stay by your side when your heart falls apart, they are your true friends’ – Brigitte Nicole
‘Close friends are truly life’s treasures. Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves. With gentle honesty, they are there to guide and support us, to share our laughter and out tears. Their presence reminds us that we are never really alone’ – Vincent van Gogh
‘True friends aren’t the ones who make your problems disappear. They are the ones who won’t disappear when you’re facing problems’ – unknown
‘A friend is someone who helps you up when you’re down, and if they can’t, they lay down beside you and listen’ – Winnie the Pooh

Friendship and you
‘If we treated ourselves as well as we treated our best friend, can you imagine how much better off we would be?’ – Meghan Markle (now Duchess of Sussex)
‘As we grow up, we realize that it becomes less important to have a ton of friends, and more important to have real ones’ – unknown
‘When you are your own best friend, you don’t endlessly seek out relationships, friendships, and validation from the wrong sources because you realise that the only approval and validation you need is your own’ – Mandy Hale (American blogger turned author)

‘Be kind today . . . to yourself, remember to be a good friend to yourself, accept that you’re doing your best, love your perfect imperfections, be mindful of what you need and give it to yourself. Surround yourself with people who honour, love and cherish you for who you are’ – Ian Lawton
‘You are you own best friend. Never ever put yourself down’ – Paulo Coelho (Brazilian author)
‘You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection’ – Buddha
I hope you’ve enjoyed these friendship quotes. I’d like to finish on one that makes me smile and maybe we all need that little reminder every now and then . . .
‘In case you forgot to remind yourself this morning . . . your butt is perfect; your smile lights up the room; your mind is insanely cool; you are way more than enough and you are doing an amazing job at life’ – unknown
So our tiny tweak this week is to look in that mirror every morning and remind yourself of just how fabulous you are! No more talking down to yourself, be your own best friend and go out and shine!
Until next time xx
If you’ve enjoyed this post, please like, share and tell everyone you know about it! The more people we can encourage to smile and be positive, the happier the world will be. I’d love to know what your favourite friendship quote is – let me know in the comments!
I found your post through another blog that we both follow. After reading that post then reading yours I’m blown away at how they speak directly to my current situation. I’ve started a blog in an attempt to connect with like-minded people and possibly make new friends but ended up losing focus on that and focusing on affiliate marketing. I believe I’m trying to take in too much information at one time because it’s all new to me…..anyways I’m rambling…thanks for inspiring me to put friendship first

Thanks for your thoughts Justin. I’m so glad my blog spoke to you in that way. My friends mean the world to me and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. I’m still new to the blogging world and it’s pretty overwhelming sometimes. I hope you can kickstart your blog though – good luck!
