Happy, healthy me – a journey
My name is Cathy and I am so excited to be here! I live on the borders of London and Essex in the UK and am Mum to two amazing young men. Our house is always full of life and laughter!
Amongst other things, I love the theatre, pub quizzes, good conversation, board games, table tennis, pool, watching football, dancing, dark chocolate, wine, meals out, meals in, city breaks and wandering around London. My family and friends mean the world to me and have got me through some pretty tough times over the last few years.
None of us can escape the difficult times but I believe that everyone should have joy in their life and to be as healthy and happy as possible. My dark times have brought me to a point in my life where I want to share some of the things I’ve learnt with you. I also want to learn from you too as I still have a long way to go on my journey. I’m no expert but I’m passionate about creating little moments of joy and healing the mind, body and soul on the way. I really hope that we can help each other to improve our lives one small step at a time.
The idea of writing a blog came out of nowhere – I literally woke up one morning thinking I should write one! At this point I knew nothing about blogging and had no idea where this had come from or where to start. Later that very same day I received an email from an online training company I’d signed up to advertising a few of their courses. Guess what one of them was? Starting a blog! I signed up there and then. I truly believe that things happen for a reason!
For me, writing a blog allows me to write down the things I’ve learnt, to gather in one place the torn out pages from magazines, the screen shots on my iPad and the scribbled notes from things I’ve heard and read. I hope it will inspire me to try more of the ideas and tips and help me on my journey to become a healthier, happier version of myself. If something you read in my blog, inspires you too then I’ll know exactly why I woke up that day and decided to write a blog!
The tiny tweaks idea came about because I know from my own experience that if you’re not feeling your best or your overwhelmed with life in general, you just don’t have the time or the desire to overhaul your life. It’s too big an ask and simply isn’t sustainable. Tiny tweaks are things you can do that are so small, you’ll hardly notice but that gradually become a habit and part of everyday life. No one can say they don’t have time for that!
Each week, there will be a new post on a different topic. They’ll all include something that we can do to move us towards being healthier and happier wherever we are on our journey. Often I’ll go back to the topic a few weeks later and explore something in more detail or look at it from a different viewpoint. If there’s something you’d like me to look at then please let me know in the comments.
