The journey so far!

‘Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions’ – Dalai Lama

So how are you doing? Have you found some tiny tweaks that are working for you? Things that are making you feel happier and healthier? It’s early days still but I’m hoping that something has clicked for you like it has for me.

Over the last few weeks we’ve talked about laughing, improving your balance, taking time for you, gratitude journalling and things to do every morning to start your day well. I’d love you to tell me how you are getting on!

For me, when I look back over the last month, I can see that I’m in a better place now than I was then. My journey to health and happiness is really beginning to bring out a different me, one who is not only happier but is also more positive and optimistic. I’m creating more opportunities to laugh more and feeling more positive about everything. I’m taking time for me and writing in my gratitude journal. I’m trying to walk a bit more and I am standing on one leg every day to help my balance. Things are already becoming habits. It feels like a lightbulb has gone on, these tiny tweaks are so simple that I’m wondering why I wasn’t already doing them!

The gratitude journal is probably the one I was least interested in to begin with but it has become daily practice and I am convinced that it helps me sleep. Twice since starting to write the journal, I haven’t written in it at night, saying to myself I would do it in the morning. Both times I had poor sleep, struggling to switch off and waking regularly throughout the night. Coincidence? Maybe, but I don’t think so. I did write in the journal the following morning, but it felt like I was doing it because I had to rather than as something I enjoyed. It was harder to remember the little things too.

It’s hard to believe that a month has gone by already since I launched my blog! Happy Healthy Me – A Journey was born when I began to think about my journey over the last few years. I acknowledged how far I had come, not only in terms of health and happiness, but also in self-belief. I knew that I wanted to share some of the things I had learnt and, by doing that, to see if I could inspire others. I knew my journey wasn’t over, I don’t think it ever is, so I wanted to learn more from other people too.

It’s easy to think that the things you are discovering are so obvious that you berate yourself for not knowing or doing them before. I used to think that, but I have realised over the last few years that, although it might be obvious, we all need a reminder every now and then. One of the things that was reinforced as part of my blogging course was that you will never be the only person writing about something. I’m not crazy enough to think that anything you read in my blog is going to be new or unique but I really hope that the way I write or something I write about resonates with you, inspires you and helps you on your own journey to happiness and health. We can’t expect to sit back and wait for happiness to come to us! In the words of the Dalai Lama ‘(happiness) comes from your own actions’.

I first started writing ideas and posts for my blog a few months ago but I didn’t know what to do with them. I thought everything had to be perfect before I could launch a blog. I was doing the blogging course and watching YouTube videos, trying to master the basics; what happens if someone subscribes by email? how do I add a logo? what’s the best layout for phone, laptop and tablet? what colour should the background be?

In reality I was procrastinating. It wasn’t writing the posts themselves that was stopping me, they come from the heart and my aim was always to write as I would speak to my closest friends. Writing them is the easy part!

But then I accidentally hit the publish button instead of the preview one and all of a sudden Happy Healthy Me – A Journey was live! My website had launched! I totally believe that things happen for a reason and the reason was obvious, I might never have launched it otherwise!

Since that happy accident, I have had so much positivity coming my way and I know launching this site at that moment was absolutely the right thing to do. I really hope it’s helping you as much as it is me!

Until next time xx

If you have enjoyed reading this post, please like it and feel free to share on your socials. The more people making tiny tweaks, laughing and feeling happier, healthier and more confident, the better this world will be!

  1. Oh yeah, the procrastination struggle is real. There are a ton of other things you can do, other than the actual thing you HAVE to do. I do it with my writing as well. Anyway, great to see that you did indeed launch your blog. Thanks for sharing!
