‘Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony’ – Mahatma Gandhi
Being happy has everything to do with how we feel about ourselves. If we aren’t happy in our own skin, we will only ever experience fleeting happiness. I love these quotes which really help to remind me of this:
‘If you are happy, you can give happiness. If you don’t love yourself and if you are unhappy with yourself, you can’t give anything else but that’ – Gisele Bundchen
‘Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you’ – Beyonce

‘Happiness is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty without happiness’ – Christian Dior
‘The only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are’ – Goldie Hawn
Even when we love and accept ourselves, we might experience times when we don’t feel happy, it’s perfectly normal to feel like that! Life can be incredibly challenging sometimes. In these moments, maybe one of the following quotes might help:
‘The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer somebody else up’ – Mark Twain
‘If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion’ – Dalai Lama
‘Whatever makes your soul happy, do that’ – unknown

‘Do things that make you happy within the confines of the legal system!’ – Ellen DeGeneres
‘Life is too short to be anything but happy. Break the rules. Forgive quickly, kiss slowly. Love truly, laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that makes you smile’ – unknown
‘People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be’ – Abraham Lincoln
‘Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times’ – Aeschylus
‘Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think’ – unknown
‘Take responsibility for your own happiness. Never put it in someone else’s hands’ – unknown

‘Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it’ – Charles R Swindoll
‘Happiness is not the absence of problems, it’s the ability to deal with them’ – Steve Maraboll
‘If you want to be happy, be’ – Leo Tolstoy
‘Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own actions’ – Dalai Lama
‘There is no path to happiness; happiness is the path’ – Buddha

‘The key to being happy is knowing you have the power to choose what to accept and what to let go’ – Dodinsky
‘Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful’ – Herman Cain
‘Not in doing what you like, but in liking what you do is the secret of happiness’ – J. M. Barrie
Finally, I’d like to leave you with this one. Most of us struggle to be fully in the present but it really is the key to happiness. After a few years of thinking about it and not being sure it was for me, I have finally started to practice mindfulness to help me stay in the present. That’s my tiny tweak this week, a daily mindfulness session, what’s yours?
‘If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present’ – Roy T Bennett
Until next time xx

We all desire happiness and you have shared some very lovely, encouraging thoughts, but just like no seed can grow without both sunshine and rain, we need happiness and sorrow to be balanced and to manifest life in the fullest. The Lord Jesus Christ was a man of sorrows, and He calls His children to follow Him and to even glory in sufferings because there’s something greater than happiness: It’s peace, joy and righteousness in the Holy Ghost within us that comes from doing the will of God…. yes, to embrace suffering to bring an end to our ways and thoughts that are not like God’s. May you become a pearl of great beauty by embracing the cross, dear Cathy.
Blessings and love,
❤️Michele
