‘They say the human body can lose over 50% of its body parts and survive. But it depends on which parts, and which body’ – Jan Ellison
I came across some of these facts whilst doing some research and I had to know more! The human body is amazing and there is so much going on that we will probably never know about. Enjoy!
Our body gives off enough heat in 30 minutes to bring half a gallon of water to the boil.
Humans are the only animals to produce emotional tears and to blush.

More germs are transferred shaking hands than by kissing.
We are 1 cm taller in the morning that we are at the end of the day as a result of the cartilage between our bones being compressed.
It’s scientifically proven that children grow faster in the spring.
80% of body heat is lost through the head which is why we should all wear a hat on cold days!

The brain doesn’t feel pain, even though it processes pain signals.
Our heart rests between each beat, meaning that over an average lifespan, our heart stands still for about 20 years.
Our fingernails grow four times faster than our toenails.
Children have more taste buds than adults.
A sneeze blows air out of our nose at 100 mph per hour.
The heart circulates blood through the body around 1000 times per day.
Our eyes blink over 20 times per minutes, or 10 million times a year.

The entire surface of our skin is replaced every month and every single minute we shed over 30,000 dead skin cells.
Ears never stop growing and earwax is actually a type of sweat!
Hope you enjoyed these weird and wonderful facts! Which one was your favourite? I’m not sure there is a tiny tweak this week but it’s important that we look after our amazing bodies. We also need to give them credit for all the hard work going on behind the scenes, so how about a positive affirmation as our tiny tweak this week? Some examples are ‘I love my body and all that it does for me’, ‘My body is a miracle’, ‘I choose to respect and honour my body just as it is’ and ‘I am thankful for my body’s strength’.
Until next time xx
